Located at the Cascada de las Animas Nature Sanctuary, the Refugio Animal Cascada consists in a Rehabilitation Center and an Exhibition Center, where we work each day for the care of all native wildlife in need.
For many years the care of native wildlife has been set aside… the Refugio Animal Cascada was born as a prevailing need to receive animals that have been directly or indirectly impacted by humans.
the Livestock and Agricultural Service (SAG) requests the collaboration of our founder Nani Astorga to receive parrots from illegal trafficking, in order to reproduce and reintroduce them to nature, initially creating the Refugio Animal Cascada Center
Huilo arrives at the Refugio, which created the beginning of the reception of animals that needed care and rehabilitation, despite having the resolution of “Reproduction Center”, the Refugio became one of the few rehabilitation centers in the country.
Maqui arrives at the Refugio, the expansion of the exhibition venues begin in order to develop environmental education together with Huilo and Maqui.
The need for rehabilitation was so great that we modified and transformed the reproduction resolution of the Refugio Animal Cascada into a Rehabilitation Center (Resolution 803/2014) and an Exhibition Center (SAG Resolution 805/2014).
The development of new infrastructure at the Refugio Animal Cascada begins, allowing for the reception of more animals and the development of scientific studies.
Action Fauna Foundation is a non-profit foundation created as a legal representative of the Refugio Animal Cascada, in order be able to develop various projects for the conservation of native fauna and to receive donations.
Due to heavy rains a large landslide destroyed both puma enclosures, forcing them to escape to safety. We managed to get Huilo back after 4 days, being in the place he used to walk when he was younger, and Maqui returned after 13 days to his enclosure by himself.
With the collaboration of the Foundation for the International Aids of Animals (FIAA), the Refugio receives a donation to improve the infrastructure of Rehabilitation Center and Exhibition Center.
Our team consists mostly in a group of volunteers who are in love with the native fauna, who also feel the responsibility that we have as humans regarding the care of biodiversity.
Between friends and collaborators, we constantly work to rehabilitate, release, protect and educate!
